EDIT: It has come to my attention that just because the manga isnt dirrectly linked to the game apperently means it doesnt make it canon, just cause you dont see bongo bongo or fight in the shadow temple and alot of things are slightly different, well thats like saying anything drawn in fan art for an anime series should be flamed since the manga is the canon version and some things happened differently or someone died in the anime but not in the manga. oh but you dont see that happen do you?? if they put everything in the manga exactly like the game then link would be a freaking mute, and youd have an entire walkthrough of the game. now I could rant on like this forever but ill stop now.

oh god i knew it was cannon it's just ugh...nintendo is screwing with our heads....cuz...nintendo says sheiks a girl and then in the manga it's kinda referring to sheik as a guy....oh god...NOW I'M CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!

Well actually Link isn't Mute in game (and no I'm not referencing "hiya" or "AHHHHHHHHHH" or anything like that. There are clearly places where Link's interactions with other characters (in game) suggest that he is talking or explaining something to them... But that Said, there are many levels of canon. The games themselves are of the highest level canon, because they are the basis and the common ground of the entire idea behind the series... they ARE the series. Anything else beyond that is NOT the official view--this includes interviews with the makers of Zelda, although they usually have an idea about what will BECOME canon. So yeah, anything outside of the games is secondary at best (meaning presented by someone within the project), or worse, it could be even farther removed. Manga has the nintendo seal to allow them to make money off of it.

On the same token, SSBB has the nintendo seal and references Sheik as female through all of OoT.

Anyways, I'm not saying don't believe that Sheik is a guy... I don't buy into it, I think it makes the story a lot less than it is with Shiek being a slightly magic-tweaked Zelda... but still in essence (and sexually) herself. But that's just MY opinion... not worth much to anyone else. And it certainly has no bearing on how Sheik can be presented in art

It's not really worth arguing over, aye? Although there always will be those people who have to say "STFU sheke is a g1rl no a dude P3WNED suck that" ...lol. In that case... go ahead and argue with 'em hehe

) I appreciate your explanation! ok NOW I get why they say the manga isnt canon, but does that mean they have to flame people who draw sheik as male? noooo -3- well some just say sheik is female because sheik IS zelda in the end but they seem to ignore the little things in the game, I remember Ruto referring to sheik as a male before, wouldnt that make it obvious that when zelda is sheik she's male?? anyways, I dont know what to think anymore, I dont particularly enjoy argueing I just want people to leave each other alone .w. I personally think its more interesting if sheik where to be male cuz then you can go all "WOOOAAAHHH Subplot!!!"
